Where to use this leather diffuser oil

Bedrooms and studies, mostly. It is the only leather diffuser oil in the range we would put in a bedroom without qualifying it — the floral heart keeps it light enough to sleep through, and the sandalwood and cedar base holds the scent overnight without turning heavy by morning.

Living rooms work well too, particularly if the room gets a lot of daylight. It reads more spring and summer than the rest of this family, which tends to want a fire and a closed door.

It is a reasonable hallway scent as well, though you lose some of the point. The lilac and pepper opening carries fine in a space people pass through, but the slow shift from floral heart to suede base is the reason to own this one, and that needs somewhere you actually sit.

Is The Hyde right for you?

Choose it if leather appeals but every leather you have tried has felt like somebody else's furniture. This is the modern one — quieter, cleaner, more floral at the top, and much less traditional than the rest of the family.

The Cowboy is the closest comparison and the better pick if you want something more classical: cardamom, iris and cedar, still tidy, but recognisably a leather from the first second. The Doux is at the other end entirely, boozy and incense-heavy, if what you actually want is more weight rather than less.

How to use it

This is a concentrated oil for cold-air diffusion — not a reed diffuser, a candle or a wax burner. Two or three drops in The Wisp Mini is right for a bedroom, and the Wisp Fragrance System will take it across a whole floor. The 10ml fits the Neom Pod Mini, and a few drops on a Wisp Aroma Stone works in a wardrobe or a car.

Because it is a lighter leather diffuser oil than the others here, you can run it at a slightly higher dose than The Doux or The Kingsman without the room feeling closed in.

It also holds up better than most of this family in a room that gets aired daily. The sandalwood and cedar base is what stays behind after the windows have been open, and it stays clean rather than stale.
