Where to use this aquatic diffuser oil

Bathrooms above all. The cucumber and seawater read as cold, clean water on tile and glass, and an aquatic diffuser oil of this weight will not fight with shower gel, shampoo or the smell of a hot room drying out.

Bedrooms and spa-style rooms are the other two. It is one of the few fragrances we make that genuinely helps a room feel calm rather than scented, which makes it a sensible choice for a treatment room, a small home gym, or anywhere you want the air to feel clean without a scent taking over the space.

Is The Tide right for you?

Buy it if you want quiet. This is the low-volume option — the one to reach for when a bright citrus or a heavy woody is too much, or when the room is small and the door stays shut. It also works well for people who say they do not like home fragrance, because it does not read as perfume.

Skip it if you want a scent that fills the house. There is nothing loud here, and in an open-plan kitchen it will disappear. The Beach is the marine oil with real presence — marine aldehyde, seaweed and ambergris, salty and unmistakable — and The Garden gives you the same aquatic family with far more flower in it, opening on grapefruit and bergamot and moving into lotus and water lily.

Worth adding: this is our most common first purchase. If you are new to cold-air diffusion and unsure what you like, it is an easy place to start and difficult to dislike.

How to use it

Concentrated oil for cold-air diffusion — not for reed diffusers, candles or wax burners. Two drops in The Wisp Mini is plenty for a bathroom; because the blend is light you can push it to four or five in a larger bedroom without it turning sharp. The Wisp Fragrance System handles a whole floor.

The 10ml fits the Neom Pod Mini, and a few drops on a Wisp Aroma Stone will scent a car or a linen drawer with no power needed.

Good to know

It blends well. A drop or two of The Tide into a heavier woody or floral oil will thin it out and cool it down, which is a useful trick in summer. Used that way, an aquatic diffuser oil works more like a modifier than a scent in its own right.
